Terms
Terms of use
Draft of 2026-09-26 · covers the website aiforthecurious.com only
Draft. To be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch. This is a starting draft, not legal advice. Everything in [brackets] is still to be filled in.
The short version
- It’s a free academy for teaching yourself AI. Lessons may change, and we can’t promise it’s always available.
- One person per account. Keep your sign-in safe, and delete your account whenever you like.
- Certificates are personal milestones, not qualifications. Nothing is graded or verified.
- Lessons are general education, not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.
- Practise security skills only on your own systems and accounts.
- Use the lessons and cheatsheets freely for learning and teaching, with credit. Don’t resell them.
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company or owner name] (“we”) about using AI for the Curious. By using the site, you agree to them. Please also read the privacy policy.
The service
AI for the Curious is a free, self-teaching academy about AI. The first 5 lessons are open to everyone. Every other lesson is free too; it just needs a free account (email and password, or a sign-in link by email). Curious Kids (ages 8 to 12) needs no account at all.
Because the field changes fast, the service changes too: we update, reorganise, or remove lessons, change features, and fix mistakes. We try hard to keep the site available, but we can’t guarantee that it always will be, or that any particular lesson or feature will stay.
Accounts
- You must be 13 or older to create an account. Under 13? The first 5 lessons are open to everyone, and Curious Kids (ages 8 to 12) needs no account at all. [Lawyer to confirm: some EU countries set 16 for certain kinds of processing]
- One person per account. Don’t share your account or use someone else’s.
- Keep your sign-in secure (your password, and access to your email for sign-in links), and tell us at [Contact email] if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account at any time on the account page. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.
Exams and certificates
Quizzes, exams, and certificates are for self-assessment. Answers are checked in your browser; nothing is graded or verified by a person or by us. Certificates are personal milestones: they say you completed or passed something here, as of a date. They are not qualifications or credentials, and we make no promise that any employer, school, or other institution will recognise them.
Not professional advice
Some lessons touch law, privacy, security, health, or money. They are general education, dated where things change, and not legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. For a decision that matters, ask a qualified professional (for example, your organisation’s lawyer or data protection officer).
Outside tools
Many exercises use tools you choose: AI assistants, local models, MCP servers, notebooks, and other software. Those tools are not ours; their own terms and data practices apply. You decide what to share with them (the lessons show you how to share safely). Installing and running software, and any costs you choose to incur with outside services, are at your own risk and your own choice. We never ask for your keys or passwords.
Acceptable use
- Security, jailbreak, prompt-injection, red-team, and agent exercises are for learning only, practised on your own systems, accounts, and projects.
- Never attack, test, or access a system, account, or person’s data without permission. That can be illegal, and it’s never what the lessons ask.
- Don’t try to break, overload, or misuse this site, and don’t use it to harm anyone.
Using our content
- Free for learning and teaching: you may use the lessons and cheatsheets for your own learning and in classrooms, with credit to “AI for the Curious” and a link to aiforthecurious.com.
- Cheatsheets may be printed and shared.
- Reserved: the site’s design, code, images, illustrations, the owl mascot, and the name “AI for the Curious” (all rights reserved).
- No reselling: don’t sell the content, or put it behind a paywall.
How we use AI
We create lessons and images with the help of AI, and a person reviews them. Mistakes can still happen. If you spot one, please tell us at [Contact email]; corrections are part of how we work (see How we teach).
Teams
Organisations can set up teams. Team admins see only their members’ lessons completed, exams passed, and dates. Admins agree to use these reports only for learning purposes, and to tell their members what they can see.
Liability
The service is free and provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by outside tools, by your use of what you learn, or by the service being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer. [Lawyer to adapt the liability wording to the governing law]
Changes, law, and contact
We may change these terms. We’ll update the date at the top, and tell account holders by email before important changes take effect. These terms are governed by the law of [Country / governing law].
Contact: [Contact email], [Company or owner name], [Address].
